Expanding Facilities for an Expanding Ministry

UPDATE

Since we began building we've had incredible support from our Calvary volunteers in accomplishing tasks necessary for the completion of the new building. Special thanks to ALL who have volunteered their time, skills, and passion. We have now completed the outside of the building, the entry area, the gymnasium, and the youth room. Work is currently being done in the kitchen, which is coming along very well!

build the house of the Lord in Jerusalem." Ezra 1:5

The opportunity was orchestrated by God for His people to fulfill a dream - the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem. It had been on their hearts for 70 long years of captivity. And now the improbable had happened! King Cyrus issued the decree and the door was now wide open. Who would go? Who would commit themselves to take on the dream project? You read it- "everyone whose heart God had moved." That's who!

Now that was a long time ago, 538 BC to be exact. Ah -- but this is today, the year 2003. The people of Calvary Baptist Church have also had a dream. They possessed a vision of ministry that would necessarily require the expansion of facilities. A previous generation of committed Christians gave sacrificially so that we can appreciate the facilities we enjoy today, but their vision extended far beyond that initial project. They also dreamed of an ever-expanding ministry that would require an on-going stewardship.

This is a major step of faith for our church. Continue to pray for God's leading as we progress through the building process. Pray that hearts will be touched and funds will be provided as we work to expand the ministries at Calvary Baptist Church.

"What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to
happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see." Hebrews 11:1

PRAY

Pray that God would enable our congregation to actually see the present ministry need, and then, to visualize what God might do through us in the days and years ahead!

Pray that Calvary's family will joyfully accept the privilege of tithing. Pray that each of us would learn to give systematically and sacrificially to eternal kingdom causes.

Pray for the ministry of our Steering Committee, as they are used by God to guide our congregation and keep the vision in focus.

Pray that God would enable many of His people at Calvary to give a generous one-time gift that will encourage the whole body, and enable us to move forward with confidence and strength.

Pray that the congregational response to the Building A Vision campaign will be overwhelmingly beyond any of our expectations.

Pray that God would bless our congregation both spiritually and financially, so that it is His opening of the floodgates that gives Him the ultimate glory.

Pray that everything that happens through Calvary's ministry, on Sundays and every day of the week, will be an expression of worship and praise to the Lord!
